This June it has been 2 years since Roe v. Wade was overturned by the Dobbs Decision and abortion was banned in MS. What do your options for an unplanned pregnancy look like now? What about the abortion pill? Where can you find support?
You still have choices
When you first find out that you’re unexpectedly pregnant you probably feel like you just want the problem to go away and abortion might be the first thing you think about. Maybe abortion feels like your only choice. Knowing that it is banned in MS can be scary in a situation like this.
At The Cline Center, we want you to know that you still have choices in Mississippi. You actually have three choices: abortion, adoption, and parenting.
You’re so much more capable than you think, and you deserve better than feeling trapped and not knowing where you can turn for help.
What about the abortion pill?
Since abortion was banned in Mississippi and the last abortion clinic closed, more women are opting for the abortion pill online. Is this really safe, though? Is this really something you should do alone without any professional advice or medical supervision? You might hear that it is, but here’s what we know:
- The FDA reports that 1 in 25 women who take the abortion pill will end up in the ER.
- ER visits related to abortion pill complications have increased by over 500% in the past 10 years.
- 1 in 50 women taking the abortion pill will suffer an infection.
- 15% of women taking the abortion pill will suffer hemorrhage.
- The side effects commonly associated with the abortion pill are cramping, bleeding, nausea, weakness, fever, chills, vomiting, headache, diarrhea, and dizziness.
- Many women report lingering emotional side effects after taking the abortion pill like: depression, suicidal thoughts, eating disorders, addiction, difficult relationships, shame, and guilt.
- Some women experience incomplete abortion.
At the Cline Center, we never want you to feel scared and we never want you to feel like you have to make an abortion decision alone. We want you to have all the information and support you need to make a well-informed choice.
