Get The Information You Need
A positive pregnancy test is an essential first step but doesn’t tell you everything you need. To protect your health and make an informed decision about your pregnancy, it’s essential to confirm key details through an ultrasound.
At The Cline Center, we provide free, confidential ultrasounds for eligible clients. Each scan is performed by one of our licensed nurses or sonographers in a safe, private environment where your comfort comes first.
Why an Ultrasound Matters
Pregnancy tests detect the hormone hCG but cannot verify critical medical details. An ultrasound uses sound waves to create an image of your uterus and developing pregnancy. This scan provides crucial information, including:
- Viability: Is the pregnancy progressing, and is there a detectable heartbeat? Since miscarriages are common in early pregnancy, knowing whether your pregnancy is viable helps you understand your next steps.
- Gestational Age: How far along are you? Abortion methods and availability depend on gestational age. For example, the abortion pill is FDA-approved through 10 weeks of pregnancy.
- Location: Is the pregnancy in the uterus? An ectopic pregnancy, when a pregnancy develops outside the uterus, is rare but can cause life-threatening complications and requires immediate medical treatment.
What to Expect During Your Scan
At The Cline Center, our ultrasounds are performed either transvaginally or abdominally, depending on how far along you are and what provides the clearest medical information. Our nurses and sonographers will walk you through each step, explain what you’re seeing, and answer your questions along the way.
We understand this may feel overwhelming. After your scan, you can meet with an advocate to discuss your situation and explore your options, including abortion’s risks and side effects, in a confidential setting.
Your Next Step
An ultrasound provides clarity that a pregnancy test alone cannot. By verifying gestational age, viability, and location, you’ll have the details you need before moving forward with a decision about your pregnancy.
